New Stories from the Midwest 2012
My story “Rainbow Dogs” is going to be in it. How cool! Major thanks to Chris Heavener at Annalemma for giving the story its first home.

New Work Forthcoming!
I’ll have a new piece in Used Furniture Review some time soon. I really like this journal, and I’m delighted to be appearing in it once again.

Go Read Hobart →
I cannot begin to describe how excited I am to be in this month’s Hobart (web). I’ve been reading and re-reading the work of fellow August contributors Casey Hannan, Donna D.Vitucci, and Nick Scorza, and find myself humbled to be in their company.

New Work Forthcoming!
I’m super excited about this one. Used Furniture Review just accepted a story of mine to be published some time soon. This journal has been putting out some amazing work from the likes of Randall Brown, Kim Chinquee, xTx, and Roxane Gay. So, yeah. Great stuff. The person whose work truly sold me on the journal, though, is Tawnysha Greene. I read her story, “Clean,” and said,...

Meet Joe Farley →
Joe and I sometimes exchange emails and Facebook notes about writing. He’s somewhat new to the craft, but amazingly talented in a way that I find truly exciting. Anyway, when I read an early draft of “Cocaine Katrina” on Joe’s blog, I took the liberty of submitting it (without his knowledge) to Annalemma on his behalf.

New Work Forthcoming!
I got a note today from Andrea Kneeland of Hobart saying that one of my stories has been accepted for an upcoming issue. I’m always happy to place my work, but I’m especially excited about this opportunity. Hobart is a damned fine journal, and the story is something I’ve had in my files for a very long time. At one point, I was going to abandon the thing, but after I received...

Subtitles III →
Natalie Edwards invited me to do a reading for the “Subtitles” series at the Three Walls gallery on March 18. Along with Natalie, I’ll be reading with Zach Dodson, and there will be sound art by Max Alexander and Eric Powell as well. I’m excited but terrified. I’m a total reading rookie, and don’t know what to expect.
The Fiction At Work Biannual Report →
Man, this is a beautiful book. It’s slim and approachable, just like the great short fiction within.
Lindsay Hunter and Mary Hamilton, whose stories are included in the collection, bundled a release party into yesterday’s Quickies! reading. I wish I remembered to take some pictures.

Bound Off Indeed →
I have a new story up at Bound Off, a great literary journal that I’ve admired for a very long time. I remember when its editor, Ann Rushton, launched the “literary audio magazine,” and I’ve enjoyed watching it grow over its 60 episodes. Anyway, I finally got enough nerve to submit, and was lucky to have them take me. About an hour ago, I saw Bound Off’s Facebook...

NewPages.Com Reviews Annalemma 7 →
Holy smokes! I just ran into the NewPages.Com review of Annalemma 7. They mentioned my story, Rainbow Dogs, a few times. How cool. It’s also the first time, I should say, that anything about me has ever been referred to as “taut and smart.”
Nick Ripatrazone Writes About Annalemma 7:... →
A few days ago, I found out that fellow Annalemma 7 contributor Nick Ripatrazone is writing an appreciation on the poem, stories, and essays in the issue. His coverage of “Rainbow Dogs” is linked above. I’m humbled. Nick takes an interesting approach to the content, giving each piece a thoughtful and highly personal entry on his blog. These aren’t reviews—what...
